Well known American artists Stanley Boxer’s abstract works in painting and printmaking inspired us to initiate a publishing project with him. We invited Stanley to our studio in November 1994 where he created these varied editions using sugar lift and aquatint on copper plate. Once the image was established on the plate Stanley would instruct us to spontaneously ink in each plate in multiple colours. As successive prints came of the press he would suggest adjustments to maintain an in the moment process to avoid predicting the future as was characteristic of his unique artistic approach.
