Famous Last Words with poetry by Robert Creeley

John Chamberlain Prints

Famous Last Words is a suite of ten multi-coloured hand printed lithographs with ten poems by Robert Creeley printed in 1990. John had had a colour xerox coping machine brought into his studio. He did many drawings with colour and metallic markers on paper then scanned them on the copier. He drew on the printed drawings, scanned again, enlarging parts of the printed images and repeated the process to keep them evolving. Colour separations where made from the final drawings and manipulated themselves in the processing to lithographic plates in keeping with John’s evolving approach. The Robert Creeley poems were printed in silkscreen. The portfolio case was produced by Ground Zero in Toronto. The military camouflage cover referring to John military experience was designed and printed at Novak Graphics.
